Welcome Message from Principal James Hardiman

To the Class of 2020 – 2021

Here at North Connaught College of Further Education as we come to the end of printing and distributing examination results, this will bring to a close another very unusual College and academic year for us all.

The end of examinations, albeit in this case alternate assignments for most of you, is always a time of relief and celebration for our students. On this occasion our staff join in that relief and celebration too, as we look back on a job well done.

When the COVID-19 pandemic first became apparent we had no idea of the disruption that it would bring. How would teaching continue? How would exams and assignments be completed? It seemed overwhelming, and for some of you it was. You had the opportunity to experience blended learning for the first term, but since Spring all of your learning was online. And yet, due to our collective determination and flexibility, we have overcome those challenges not without difficulty but with distinction. We thank our learners for their patience, flexibility and spirit. We also commend our staff for their hard work and dedication on ensuring that the College year was completed. It is always our objective to put the learner first, as a matter of principal and purpose.

On behalf of all the staff at NCC can I again congratulate the class of 2020 – 2021.

Thank you for taking this part of your journey with us at North Connaught College of Further Education.

On a final note, for anybody considering a return to education or learning a new skill, check out our Virtual Open Evening (click on the orange tab on the Home page), where you will have the opportunity to meet with our staff and discover about the different courses and supports available here at the College.

Best regards,
James.           (June 2021)

Meet Our Students

North Connaught College offers courses from Beauty Therapy to Healthcare to Business and Warehousing/Security. But its main focus is the ‘student’ voice. It is about their journey. Where they are coming from. Why they decided to return to education. Why they choose North Connaught College. And where they hope to go after completing their studies with us. It also highlights the qualities and supports of the College and also the diverse range of learners, which we welcome.

Please get in touch if you would like to find out more. >>

Share to Care Project

The Health Services Supervisory Management 6 class at North Connaught College are launching our Share to Care Project through this video overview. We have collated COVID-19 journeys of the students and staff of the school as part of our Health Promotion Project promoting positive mental health. It is the hope of the team that this project allows the viewers and readers to reflect, gain insights and form their own coping strategies amidst this pandemic. A PowerPoint Presentation file will be disseminated separately to all student and staff so that you can read at your own pace and at your own time. To those who have participated, our sincere gratitude. Thank you from the Project Team.

Niamh Oliver, Joan Tarpey & Caroline Davey from The Advanced Administration Class of 2021 have put together this Tik Tok Video to promote North Connaught College of Further Education in a new, fun and energetic way. It has been worked on as a group project over the past few months and all involved are very proud of how it has come together. This is the first time this has been done and hopefully its legacy will carry on into the future of the college.
All involved would like to thank the principal James Hardiman for putting his trust in this project and Lily Murphy for giving her time and guidance.

We have been involved in the Access to Post-Primary teaching (APT) project with St. Angela’s during the pilot phase and we are delighted with the recent announcement by the HEA that funding for this project will continue for another three years (2023). If you are interested in becoming a Home Economics and Biology/Irish/Religion teacher, this project offers you an access route to these courses in St. Angela’s College. You can use your Level 5 or Level 6 qualification in Childcare from North Connaught College for entry. The APT project targets students who are under-represented at third level, so applicants must be eligible for the SUSI maintenance grant or back to education allowance.
